Maison Luxe

A UX Design Case Study

Initial Design

Inspired by brands such as Hermés and Patek Philippe, this webpage was designed to be similar in simple, stylistic fashion. When researching luxury brands I came across the realisation that those considered to be in the upper echelon of finance catered their website to simple yet elegant designs. Web pages for brands like Hermés are veering away from the hyper stylised, custom animation, designs akin to brands like Apple and Samsung.

When working on this design I wanted to accentuate key pages within the home page such as the ‘Generational Prestige’ block with a clear link which would take a user to the ‘Maison Luxe Story’ page which you can find within the footer to learn more about the brands distinguished history.

Research

The research into brands such as Hermès, Patek and more notable luxury interior design brands such as Intériour London, Taylor Howes, and The White Company, all notable London brands provided an in-depth understanding into the requirements most high end brands hold.

A majority of researched brands held a large portion of their brand identity through the visual imagery they utilise when separating; categories, insights pages and general content blocks within each landing page respectively.

This led the design for the Maison Luxe project to utilise high contrast imagery, highly spaced content blocks to accentuate each section and utilise imagery associated with a high end lifestyle. This can include, but is not limited to: branded photography, abstract imagery and singular image products placed in heavily lit surroundings.
